Educational Opportunities

The goal of our various educational and training programs within the Therapeutics Initiative is to catalyze ideation by providing students with all of the tools and skills to be productive researchers in therapeutics discovery.

Master of Medical Sciences in Therapeutic Sciences

The Master of Medical Sciences in Therapeutic Sciences program delivers advanced education in early drug discovery. This program equips students with the skills and experience for rewarding research careers in biotech, pharma, and academic laboratories.
Visit the MMSc TS website

The Master of Medical Sciences (MMSc) in Therapeutic Sciences program is a cutting-edge master’s degree program that provides world-class training in early drug discovery and prepares students to pursue research careers in pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms, academic labs, and research institutes.

The rigorous program curriculum delivered by the world-renowned faculty provides the knowledge, skills, and experiences students need to excel as laboratory research scientists in biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, and assay development. Beyond the classroom, each student will be immersed in a hands-on thesis research project under the mentorship of Harvard Medical School faculty, starting in their second semester. The Program was intentionally designed to maximize the time spent in the lab, allowing our students to put conceptual knowledge into practice and perfect their bench skills.

Therapeutics Graduate Program

The TGP is an add-on certificate program open to PhD students in the life sciences from across the Harvard ecosystem. We provide students with resources to explore the totality of the therapeutic and biopharmaceutical career paths through an innovative curriculum and a signature internship program.

The Therapeutics Graduate Program is a HILS-wide certificate program that provides a rigorous curriculum and builds a community of PhD students and faculty with common interests in Therapeutic Sciences.  The rationale behind the certificate program is to offer to a subset of our Ph.D. trainees multidisciplinary training in the sciences relevant to identifying and developing novel diagnostics and therapeutics, and in understanding and elucidating mechanisms of drug action, understanding clinical failures, developing compounds and applying them in preclinical and clinical studies, and understanding the societal implications and impact of these activities. This training will provide students with a well-rounded understanding so that they can examine a therapeutic problem from every angle. Importantly, the training the students receive will also include a hands-on internship experience. The ultimate purpose of the program is to prepare Ph.D. students for careers in academic, industrial and clinical settings.

Harvard Griffin GSAS Harvard Biotech Club

The Harvard Griffin GSAS Harvard Biotech Club is a student organization in operation for over 20 years, with more than 6,400 global members. We are on a mission to bridge the gap between industry and academia and provide the education, skills, and network for students to become future leaders in biotech.

Therapeutics Fellowships

The Therapeutics Initiative hosts multiple fellowship opportunities to support our goal of developing a pipeline for therapeutic development and training the next generation of therapeutic/regulatory scientists. These full-time training programs allow early-mid career professionals from a variety of backgrounds to learn, collaborate, and gain hands-on experience with some of the top scientists in the field.

Harvard-MIT CRS Fellowship

A fellowship program for individuals passionate about using novel applications of regulatory science to improve the process of getting better drugs or devices to patients more efficiently

Harvard HealthTech Fellows

A fellowship program that teaches the next generation of healthcare innovators how to harness technology, engineering, business, and cutting-edge science to define a new standard of medical care
